The original project on the PEG (then named the Western Challenge) was to visit the vessel in Australia to establish if she was suitable to be converted from a Coal Transport Barge to a Titanium Sands transhipment vessel between the Moma jetty and an awaiting Bulk carrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vessel was procured by Kenmare and the conversion involved<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Installation of two steerable thrusters with power packs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Loading Hopper with cantilevered conveyers for product spreading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Additional Accommodation Units<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Davits and Yokohama Fenders<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Later the PEG was upgraded with a new Starboard Windlass<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2024\/2025 a further refit was undertalen whereby<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Port Windlass replaced to match the Stbd Windlass.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Installation of 4 new mooring winches with associated swivel fairleaders<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Installation for further accommodation \/ office containers as well as a gym container<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Installation of two new control bridges<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Creating a new below deck machinery space to accommodate the sewage treatment plant, the water maker and water tank.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
