The barge being but one part of their larger project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transhipment barge is classed ABS, and was built by ASL Shipyards (Singapore).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The barge carries 2000 tonnes of product in each of its two silo&#8217;s. These silos are discharged into the bulkcarrier by means of a series of conveyors, a bucket elevator and a slewing boom conveyor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Material Handling Plant was designed by BMH (Sweden) and integrated into the Triton designed barge.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.triton.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/photo_2025-04-11_09-56-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1310\" style=\"width:370px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.triton.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/photo_2025-04-11_09-56-13.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.triton.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/photo_2025-04-11_09-56-13-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.triton.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/photo_2025-04-11_09-56-13-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.triton.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/photo_2025-04-11_09-56-13-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The barge is equipped with self rendering, self tensioning winches for holding alongside the jetty during loading and alongside the ship during discharge. She is also equipped with 4 x 500 Kw 360deg azimuth rudder propeller type HRP thrusters, controlled by a single joystick control system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the area is known for its calm weather, most of the year, it is also a tropical cyclone zone, thus the barge is equipped with a three point cyclone mooring system, to wait out such a storm, whilst anchored away from the jetty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All aspects of the barge design were performed by Triton, including motion studies, mooring studies, powering calculations, stability, finite element analysis and structural detailing.
